The North York Moors In May 2016

The North Yorkshire Moors is a beautiful piece of countryside to explore and there are plenty of things to do in the area this coming May.


1st May Stage 3 Tour De Yorkshire - The Tour de Yorkshire passes through
Middlesbrough - Great Ayton - Stokesley - Hutton Rudby - Northallerton - Thirsk - Sutton Bank - Helmsley - Kirkbymoorside - Hutton-le-Hole - Danby - Glaisdale - Grosmont - Whitby - Robin Hood's Bay - Scarborough

2nd May 2016 - Nunnington Hall - Birds of Prey Event - 11-4pm Free event get up close and personal with birds of prey. See them soar across the sky, hold one yourself and find out all about them. We'll have experienced falconers onsite throughout the day to answer questions and demonstrate the exceptional predatory skills of these magnificent birds. Don't forget to bring your camera! Flying display.

6th– 8th May & 13th-15th May -  Late Spring Steam Gala North York Moors Railway -  the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is looking forward to welcoming steam enthusiasts and families alike for two great weekends during its Spring Steam Gala.





Saturday May 21 & Sunday May 22 Pickering Game & Country Fair Scampston Park - This excellent location provides the ideal opportunity to experience all the countryside has to offer – from all the country sports with loads of have-a-go opportunities, to fine foods and animals – all this and lots more not just for the country sports enthusiast but all of the family to enjoy throughout the weekend.

WalkFest 2016 - 28th May 2016 10:00am - 30th May 2016 9:00pm - North York Moors National Park event - Walks for all ages and abilities - Children’s treasure hunts to moorland hikes.Afternoon tea strolls and steam train rides - Expert guides, from the worlds of archaeology, wildlife, conservation, even brewing! There really is something for everyone!

Bank Holiday Monday 30th May 2016 - The Duncombe Park Country Fair - Entrance:Adults £8, Children £3, Concessions £6, Dogs on lead welcome. Attractions at the fair include: Trade stands & craft fair, Farmers market, Open clay pigeon shooting, Vintage cars, tractors & motorcycles, Archery, Funfair rides
